For Woolmakers Bliss Spinning Wheel Drive Band Stretchy Grippy Polycord

My black polycord drive bands are ideal as direct compatible replacements for the Woolmakers Bliss spinning wheels (both the Bliss single-treadle and the Bliss TT double-treadle), and the two ends are already fused together to create a completed circular drive band.

To fit the drive band, some disassembly and reassembly of the spinning wheel is required – see the two images in the listing. Firstly, unhook the brake band line and spring. Next, using a cross-head (‘Phillips’) screwdriver, remove the single screw at the top of the front upright post. Next, detach the wooden footman by unclipping the plastic cup and ring coupling that attaches the footman to the centre of the drive wheel. To do this, simply ‘snap’ the small ‘ears’ of the plastic ring forwards, which loosens the coupling, and then pull the whole thing forwards and off of the wheel’s bearing. Next, slip the drive band down behind the front upright post, behind and past the brake band tension knob, and then down in between the footman and the drive wheel. Finally, fit the drive band around the flyer’s whorl/pulley and also around the main drive wheel, and then reassemble everything as before (don’t forget to ‘snap’ the plastic ring back into place again). NB. If you are reading this online, then below you will find a short video of Nancy at The Woolery in the USA, ‘unsnapping’ and detaching an identical plastic cup and ring coupling on a Louet spinning wheel to be able to fit the drive band (Louet manufacture Bliss spinning wheels, and the cup and ring coupling is a standard Louet component). Instead of dismantling the spinning wheel, you may prefer to work with an unjoined length of polycord, feeding it around the assembled wheel, and then fusing the ends together yourself in-situ - See my listing 'For Ashford Kromski And More Spinning Wheel Drive Band Belt'.
