For Lendrum Upright Spinning Wheel Brake Band And Bobbin Changing Upgrade Kit

Compatible with the Lendrum upright spinning wheel only, this kit consists of a replacement brake band, complete with 120cm of 1mm diameter waxed-cotton cord, a spring and a screw eye. Also included is a replacement bolt and knurled finger nut including washers, to make bobbin changing a breeze! Also supplied are three, self-adhesive rubber 'feet' for the underside of the spinning wheel, to replace any missing or damaged originals. At 20.5mm square at the base (and 7.5mm high), these feet have a lot more self-adhesive surface contact area then the much smaller, round originals, and so are not as likely to fall off. They also have more contact, and therefore more grip, with the ground.

To fit: First remove the bobbin and flyer. Next, remove the tension knob and cut or untie the string from it. Next, remove and discard the brake band assembly: string, rubber band and metal screw hook from under the Mother of All. Using a good, flat-head screwdriver, and possibly pliers or spanner on the nut, unscrew the nut and bolt from the rear maiden. Fit a washer to the replacement bolt, line up all the holes, and then screw the replacement bolt in from the right across to the left as before (it's a tight fit). Fit the second washer and then finally fit and tighten up the knurled nut (narrow end first). VERY IMPORTANT: When tightening the knurled nut, make sure that the rear maiden is not angled too far forwards such that it is tight up against the bobbin. Make sure that both the bobbin and the flyer have approximately 2mm of forwards and backwards free movement EACH. Put again: the bobbin must be left with approximately 2mm of play between the rear maiden and the inside of the flyer, and the flyer itself must have approximately 2mm of play between both the front and the rear maidens. Next, make a small, centrally-placed hole, approximately 12mm-15mm down below the MOA in the sliding adjustment block using a bradawl or similar, and then screw the screw eye into the hole (pliers?). Refit the flyer, bobbin, tension knob and drive band. Next, attach the free-end of the spring, and then run the pre-tied waxed-cotton cord up through the hole in the MOA, over the top of the bobbin and then through the hole in the tension knob, tying a knot and taking up the slack.

To fit the rubber feet: carefully prise off the originals if present, thoroughly clean and dry the wooden surface, peel the backing off of the replacement feet, and then place them centrally and around 5mm from the ends of the three Lendrum ‘feet’.

For the rear Maiden easy bobbin change kit: One M5 (5mm diameter/wide) Pan head, slotted, stainless steel bolt, 60mm long (excluding head). One M5 knurled finger nut, 20mm wide at widest point, and 11mm deep. Pair of washers.

Three, self-adhesive 'feet' for the underside of the wheel.
