For Kromski Fantasia Prelude Interlude Sonata Spinning Wheel Drive Band Stretchy

My clear, orange or black, stretchy, grippy, polycord drive bands are ideal as direct compatible replacements for the four Kromski dedicated single-drive scotch tension spinning wheels - Fantasia, Prelude, Interlude and Sonata - and the two ends are already fused together to create a completed circular drive band (as Kromski originals are). Each band costs the same price of £10.95 each (plus postage).

NB. The black drive band has a barely noticeable, 14mm long manufacturers inscription of tiny grey characters located every 30cm along one side (please see photo).

Because the drive bands are supplied as a continuous ‘loop’, i.e., with the two ends already joined together, some simple disassembly of the spinning wheel is required to be able to fit the band in place. Assembly instructions can be found for each of the four models at the Kromski website, but the following information is pretty much all that you need to carry out the work.

With the Sonata and Fantasia wheels, temporarily remove the top end of both footmen from the drive wheel’s crank, by using a small cross-head (Phillips) screwdriver to unscrew the two bolts/nuts and then gently prise apart the split in the wood. Next, slip the drive band behind the two footmen and then refit them by replacing the bolts/nuts. Do not overtighten. NB. With both spinning wheels, when refitting, make sure that you connect the outer/front footman to the left treadle and the inner/back footman to the right treadle.

With the Prelude and Interlude wheels, pop out the pair of drive wheel locking pegs, lift the wheel out of the wheel posts, and then slip the drive band down behind the front post. Replace the wheel and pegs.
