For Ashford Kromski And More Spinning Wheel Drive Band Stretchy Grippy Polycord

2.2 metres (220cm or 2200mm) of stretchy/grippy polycord drive band for many makes of single-drive spinning wheel (polycord drive bands are not really suitable for double-drive spinning wheels). More than enough to fit any single-drive spinning wheel.

NB. This is a ‘DIY’ kit, and you are required to measure up and join the two ends of the drive band yourself, using a heat source such as a candle or hot-plate to melt the ends of the polycord. Detailed, printed instructions are provided, as is a small wooden jig for supporting the two ends of the polycord whilst fusing them together. Please watch the video towards the bottom of this listing which shows the procedure in full.

My 2mm and 3mm diameter/thick, clear, orange or black polycord drive bands (black available in 3mm only), are ideal as both direct compatible replacements and also as an upgrade for many makes and models of single-drive spinning wheel. The benefits of a stretchy/grippy polycord drive band over conventional cotton/string bands include: more traction on the whorls (especially the smaller ones); less friction, wear and tear on the bearings; easier drive band adjustment (e.g., when changing ratios); easier treadling due to the lower tension on the drive band; easier plying; greater lifespan.

NB. The black drive band (which is available in 3mm only) has a barely noticeable, 14mm long manufacturers inscription of tiny grey characters located every 30cm along one side (please see photo).

My 2mm diameter/thick drive bands are ideal for a large number of different makes and models of spinning wheel when setup as single-drive, for example: Ashford Traditional, Ashford Traveller, Ashford Elizabeth, all Haldanes, Westbury and Wee-Peggy. However, some models are normally set up with a 3mm diameter/thick drive band, and these include: Ashford Joy, Ashford Kiwi, Ashford Country Spinner, Ashford Scholar, Kromski Fantasia, Kromski Prelude, Kromski Interlude, Kromski Sonata, most Louets and most Lendrums. Please check which diameter//thickness you require before ordering. NB. I supply pre-joined 3mm drive bands that are already made up to fit a large number of makes and models of spinning wheel (including most of the above), eliminating the need for you to join the polycord yourself. However, please note that some dis-assembly/re-assembly of the wheel is required for some models. Furthermore, I supply other thicknesses of drive bands for other makes and models of spinning wheel, including Hansen, Majacraft and Schacht.
